Join us for the final five weeks of our 2016 season as we welcome a visiting team from India (the birthplace of polo) and celebrate the beautiful environment that surrounds us. The third and fourth Sundays in August (8/21 & 8/28) feature international polo matches - Team Hawaii v. Team India - two days of fast, exciting polo and cultural exchange that always draw some of the biggest crowds (and tailgates) of the year. Helping us welcome Team India is music by Quadraphonix (8/21 - world fusion), as well as a visit by Hawaii Public Radio and performances by DJ Mr. Nick and Willow Chang (8/28 - world beats and Bollywood dance). On the first Sunday of August (8/07), Hawaii Polo Club welcomes three-time Grammy nominee, Makana, and hosts the Sammy Delgado Cup. We also have hula and soulful music (Ron Artis II and Thunderstorm Artis) in honor of Al Lopaka on the second Sunday of August (8/14), as well as tasty bites and beverages throughout our final stanza. As usual, our Season Finale takes place Labor Day weekend - Sunday, Sept. 4th (the next day is a holiday!) and promises passionate polo and festivities to keep smiles on our faces for months to come including a tribute to Elizabeth 'Murph' Dailey - Hawaii's First Lady of Polo and a performance by ukulele master Taimane. Last but not least, we're thrilled to showcase organizations and individuals dedicated to creating a sustainable Hawaii and helping us pass on an invigorating environment and culture to our chidren and childrens' children. Our 'Sustainable Harvest' program includes meet & greets with Hawaii Center for Food Safety (8/07, 8/21) and North Shore Community Land Trust (8/28). Great days ahead at Hawaii Polo.

Gate opens at 11am and polo matches start at 1:30pm every Sunday. Free admission for keiki under 16 years old. BBQ's and coolers welcome. Celebrating sport and community oceanfront in Mokuleia. Details below.

HCFS Fundraiser - 8/07

8/07 - Makana (5pm) / Hawaii Center for Food Safety Fundraiser:  Bursting into the top of the Hawaii music scene while still in his teens, Ki Ho'alu singer-songwriter, Makana displayed international, star talent from his earliest days of public performance. Since that time, he has become a complete musician and person - musically, both a student and ambassador of Hawaiian traditions while also a trailblazer of new sounds and approaches - personally, pushing himself to continually explore, stretch and grow. Whether touring alongside Joe Walsh and Bad Company (this past June / July), performing for President Obama and world leaders or stumping for political change, Makana pours his heart and soul into everything he does and every note he plays.

Hawaii Center for Food Safety (HCFS) recognizes the critical importance of sustainable agriculture in Hawaii and strives to move our state to a healthy existence through education, business development and policy. With our geographic isolation and having 50% of our lands dedicated to (zoned for) agricultural use, there's no denying the gravity of this need. On August 21st, a portion of Hawaii Polo ticket proceeds will be donated to HCFS.

8/14  - Al Lopaka Day / Hula by Na Wahine 'O Ka Hula Mai Ka Puu'wai / Ron Artis II & Thunderstorm Acoustic Duo:  A special day celebrating the life and passion of Al Lopaka, a star Hawaii entertainer and polo player. Al garnered prominent acting roles in local film and TV productions including the original Hawaii Five-O, established himself as one of the most popular lounge singers of his day and earned a 5-goal rating as a polo player (the highest rating ever received by a Hawaii player). In 1985, Al lost his life in a polo accident at Hawaii Polo Club. North Shore halau, Na Wahine 'O Ka Hula Mai Ka Puu'wai, led by Candy Pollack, will pay tribute to Al on Sunday, Aug. 14th.

At 5pm, North Shore brother duo, Ron Artis II and Thunderstorm Artis, will share original songs showcasing its wide range of talents and styles. For us, the duo's music and positive spirit is as good as it gets. “I was bowled over the first time hearing the Artis brothers! Apart from their exemplary musicianship, the duo’s voices are silky smooth, their lyrics are uplifting, and they have a gift for composing catchy, soulful songs that are instantly memorable.”  Jon Woodhouse, -The Maui News

Quadraphonix - 8/21

Quadraphonix - 8/21

8/21 - Team Hawaii v. Team India / Quadraphonix / Hawaii Center for Food Safety Meet & Greet: Spending most of July and August performing at large European festivals as the backing band for Iyeoka (over 40 million YouTube views and #1 hits across Europe), Quadraphonix has the goods to get tens of thousands of people grooving and singing in unison. While rooted in funk and rock, Quadraphonix's music contains unmistakable world influences including the stylings of its Malaysian guitarist, Sree Sadagopan - perfect fodder for celebrating the return of Team India to Hawaii Polo.

DJ Mr. Nick & Willow  Chang - 8/28

DJ Mr. Nick & Willow  Chang - 8/28

8/28 - Team Hawaii v. Team India / DJ Mr. Nick with Indian Dancer Willow Chang & Special Guests / Hawaii Public Radio and North Shore Community Land Trust Meet & Greets:  DJ Mr. Nick (aka Nicholas Yee - host of Hawaii Public Radio's 'Bridging the Gap' weekly music program) has firmly established himself as a premier conduit to both 'must hear' off-the-beaten path recordings and live beats that compel immediate dancing. Famed for taking listeners on globe-trotting romps, DJ Mr. Nick will kick off his Hawaii Polo set in Bollywood before embarking on a rollicking ride to exotic locales near and far. In addition, Willow Chang, one of Hawaii's foremost dance practitioners and instructors, will delight with Indian dance and costume.

We're also thrilled to have Hawaii Public Radio (HPR) join the festivities. It's your chance to meet some of the people who make HPR a national leader in non-commercial broadcasting and a cultural & community treasure including being one of only two stations to broadcast on our North Shore coastline (HPR1: 88.1fm / HPR2: 89.3fm).

Additionally, the North Shore Community Land Trust (NSCLT) will be onsite extending welcoming hands. With our North Shore backyard experiencing an unprecedented number of visitors and development initiatives, NSCLT has been a blessing - helping to preserve thousands of acres of open space critical to keeping our community a rural haven where we and our children can connect with and be empowered by nature.
