“Very few pianists on the planet can put as much sheer emotion or adrenaline-fueled virtuosity into their performances.” -Matt Frost, The Blues Magazine

Austin, Texas

Henri Herbert is a piano playing phenomenon and one of the most sought after blues and boogie piano players in the world. The former stevedore and boxer performs a visceral and timeless show of original songs inspired by the great American blues pianists of the 20th century, not only keeping this unique form of American music alive & well, but also advancing it forward. Henri embodies this music presenting a palpable human element that connects with and energizes audiences. A video of Henri performing an impromptu boogie woogie on a public piano in London, UK has now reached 23 million views with other videos of performances by Henri amassing over 15 million additional views.

While over 38 million YouTube views is noteworthy, this reach and impact are just a few of the ways Henri has firmly established himself as one to watch. Henri is a proven draw with successful tours across Europe, Canada, USA and Japan and has elicited high praise along the way (see quotes below). He also has a knack for catching the eyes and ears of media as highlighted by Henri’s live sessions for Marc Riley on BBC Radio 6 Music and Jazz FM and performances at SXSW 2016.

Music stars have also jumped on the bandwagon with Henri enjoying past performances with guitar hero Charlie Sexton and David Bowie/Iggy Pop super-drummer Hunt Sales, as well as recordings with Nas the rapper, Isabella Summers (Florence and The Machine) and others. Perhaps the biggest compliment Henri has received to date is receiving an invitation by the Jerry Lee Lewis family to visit the family home / museum in Mississippi to play Lee’s piano. The video of this performance garnered over 25,000 views within the first two hours of its release.

Born in France and raised in the UK, Henri was drawn at an early age to records made by the piano-pounding pioneers Jerry Lee Lewis and Albert Ammons. He cut his musical teeth performing all over Europe before joining the mighty Jim Jones Revue (JJR) in 2011. As a member of JJR, Henri completed several world tours at iconic festivals and shows such as Glastonbury Festival, Rock En Seine Festival and Late Night with David Letterman. In 2014, JJR disbanded. Henri launched a solo career immediately thereafter and in March 2019, moved to Austin, Texas where he performs publicly nearly every day. Henri is recording a live album this summer with release planned for fall 2019.
